Trentham High School explore Lord Mayor’s Parlour!
The European mock election was Trentham High’s (Stoke-on-Trent) first ever mock election so they started small and simple with Years 8 and 9.
All of the main parties were represented (Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem, Green, UKIP) along with some interesting Independent parties with various local and national policies. As Stoke has 9 BNP Councillors, pupils were also allowed to form a BNP party and explore associated issues.
The school acquired the help and support of two local Councillors (Labour and Independent) and arranged for the candidates to visit the Lord Mayor's Parlour and have a guided tour!
The election was tremendously successful to the point that pupils were overheard discussing politics at break and lunch time! The result was extremely close with just two votes seperating winners, The Conservative Party, and runners up, The Labour Party.
