Genesis Party v Culturalist Party at Mock Election with a difference

Conservatives, Labour, Lib Dems… The candidates in Y Vote Mock Elections across the country largely came from the big three parties – but don’t forget, Y Vote loves to see students making up their own parties and standing for their own values.  Sutton Grammar School is here to show you how it’s done…

Student Haissim Adil stood for the Genesis Party which he formed as an alternative to the ‘big three’.  He had this to say about what his party stands for:  “The Genesis Party is a new beginning, and step forward from the past, a brand new party with the resolve and determination to carry out what needs to be done.”  The party had strong views about university tuition fees.

Fellow student Alex Wantoch had this to say about the Culturalist Party:  “The Culturalist Party of Britain (CPB) believes that society is at risk from both disintegrating moral values and from the direct effects of materialism, although the Culturalists are by no means totally socially Conservative/moral obsessed.  The CPB also does not follow the U.S. completely in its foreign policy as much as the Labour party and the Conservatives do. The Culturalists also respect the importance of the rule of law and the prevention of overpopulation in our small nation”.

Interesting!  The Liberal Democrats won at this school, but it looks like students had fun being creative and putting together policies for their new parties.  The Mock Elections team hopes that many more schools in the future will take this lead!
